Instagram Launches Live Test of Longer Videos in Stories

Instagram is testing the ability to post 60-second Stories with a small group of users. Currently, Stories length is capped at 15 seconds.

Instagram may be expanding the duration restriction for films submitted as Stories in the near future. The media-sharing app is now testing Stories that may run up to one minute, rather than the current 15 seconds.

According to an Instagram spokeswoman, "the option to produce lengthier Stories postings is greatly sought by our community." We're thrilled to start testing 60-second Stories, which will allow consumers to create and see Stories with fewer interruptions."

The update was discovered in the program's source code by app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi last month. The message he discovered there is now being shown publicly to certain people.

If and when the update is made, Instagram will enable an unbroken experience on larger films, which are currently separated into 15-second consecutive frames  the maximum length of Instagram Stories.

Instagram is testing the move with a limited number of users as part of Mosseri's larger strategy to streamline the company's user experience on several fronts, as he described earlier this year.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said in January that the firm was aiming to combine the app's video products in order to simplify the experience and assist its users' creative processes by reducing some of the platform's capabilities.

On a recent Decoder podcast, he noted that Instagram is "looking at how we can — not just with IGTV, but across all of Instagram – simplify and condense concepts, because we put a lot of fresh bets last year." "I believe we need to return to our focus on simplicity and craft this year."

Instagram unified the video experience on the site into a single format earlier this month, removing the IGTV feature and collecting all videos under its feed area.
